Tay & Val - Host + Moderators

"Everything we do is grounded in the intention to help people lead their BEST lives."

Tay & Val are the strategists and advisors conscious companies and visionary leaders go to -- to answer their "What's Next?" question -- as they navigate their personal transformation, cultivate a conscious workplace, and make their legacy impact.

They co-founded M Meditation - Seattle’s premier modern meditation movement - backed by science, crafted with soul, secularized to be accessible and approachable to modern people. People like you. Tay and Val are SIY teachers-in-training.

Why SIY?
We love the structure of the SIY program. It has depth and it has width. After 20+ combined years of meditation practice, we have deepened our sitting practice, broadened our emotional intelligence toolkit, and most of all, teach from a compassionate place.
Val: “I learned to befriend my inner critic. It helped me be kinder to the one person who needs it the most - myself.”
Tay: “I love the SIY community I am now surrounded by. They walk the talk of mindfulness, kindness, compassion, and are constantly challenging themselves to do and be their best in life and at work.”

Hanna Steplewska (Kubiak)

Hanna is the Chief Momentum Officer for badass female executives. Her Okasa Academy courses blend Stanford business innovation smarts with international aerospace business development chops, a dash of Martha Beck, a pinch of SIY, some sprinkles of adrenaline sports expertise and some female power special sauce. Applied together in regular doses these ingredients produce meaningful trajectory shifts in life, career and relationships. Hanna is an SIY teacher-in-training.

Why SIY?
Looking back, before I started my own practice and meditation work I was stressed out and frankly, not managing my stress levels very well. Certainly after years of my own practice that has shifted. But what SIY changed for me and my life partner was more practical ways to take the practice off the mat and into real life. The micro practices especially make a huge difference, but all of these practices enable me to listen better. They help me expand the space between stimulus and response. I’m more able to ask questions as opposed to reacting to what’s being said. I’m far more curious about why things are happening the way they’re happening. I’m definitely kinder to myself and my team. And I’m more curious and open. It improves communication because I elicit more detail and assume less.

Holly Ann Walker

Holly is a senior HR and Organization Development professional in Seattle, WA. Although a Pacific Northwest native, Holly has worked in and consulted with organizations across several industries in France, Costa Rica, China, and Yemen. In her professional life, she is passionate about solving business problems related to culture, strategy, employee engagement, and team effectiveness. Currently, she is completing her Masters of Science in Organization Development at Pepperdine University with a thesis focus on the mindfulness practices of women leaders and its potential application as a tool for leadership development. Holly is an SIY teacher-in-training.

Why SIY?
Over the 2 day course, I was impressed at how much neuroscience I didn't know about mindfulness despite the fact that I have been practicing for several years, including exploring mindfulness practices for my masters thesis. The program also shared incredibly useful "micropractices", short mindfulness exercises that can be used quickly throughout the day to cultivate attention and awareness. They have not only been helpful for me as I try to carry the benefits of my seated meditation practice into my chaotic work life, but have been incredibly helpful when working with leaders and teams who are curious to try mindfulness, but see it as either too hard or too time consuming. The program really exposes you to a variety of accessible tools and exercises - afterward, you can choose your own mindfulness adventure so to speak!
